The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya is undergoing an international accreditation process through the ASIIN programme (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik). ASIIN is a German accreditation body that focuses on quality assurance of higher education in engineering, computer science, natural sciences and mathematics. The accreditation process aims to raise academic standards, ensure curriculum alignment with global industry needs, and strengthen the department's international reputation.
The ASIIN accreditation process involved various intensive stages that took place from 19 to 20 February 2025. During this process, five ASIIN assessors, namely Prof. Dipl. Ing. Martin Weischer from Münster School of Architecture, Germany (1); Prof. Dipl. Ing. Cornelia Bott from Nürtingen University, Germany (2); Yanna Sumkötter, M.A from ASIIN Project Manager for Civil Engineering, Jerman (3); Dewi Afiliyani dari Urban Planner Intern PT Jababeka (4); dan Dr. Phil. H. Andy Simarmata, S.T, M.Si. dari Urban Planner Research, Consultancy, and Advocacy in The Field of Sustainable Urban Development (5), conducted a field assessment to evaluate the alignment between the submitted documents and the actual conditions in the field. They not only reviewed the curriculum and learning system, but also delved deeper into the student experience and the effectiveness of the academic system implemented. In addition, the assessment team also monitored the supporting infrastructure, ranging from laboratory facilities, classrooms, to the overall campus environment. Each aspect is assessed in detail to ensure that international standards are met and support an optimal learning process. Clarification between documents and field conditions is an important part of this process to ensure sustainable academic quality.
